Herring Cove Wedding Photos

This was a fun session. Marco & Lena traveled from New Brunswick to have photos taken after their wedding. My heart was so completely set on taking them to the coast that I forgot about some of the logistics. I provided a map pin and a brief description of where we’d be heading, but failed to give them a heads up on the terrain. It’s rough and tumble. Rocks, roots, marsh and mud. Some dry spots, but you’ve got to hike to get to them. And there they were - dressed to the nines and wearing footwear suitable for a ballroom. #photographerfail.

But they were excited. As excited as I was to introduce them to Herring Cove. We took it slow. Backtracked a number of times. But didn’t slip. Didn’t fall. And what a night it was. Just the slightest breeze off the water and a lovely mix of pastel tones in the sky.

A Haliburton Hotel Wedding

The courtyard at Haliburton Hotel is an oasis that every Halifax wedding photographer should have an opportunity to document. Removed from the traffic of Barrington and Morris Streets and sheltered by a canopy of green leaves, it presents itself as the perfect spot for a small, intimate wedding. It was an honour to have been there for Jen & Amy, an honour to have watched them walk into the courtyard together and an honour to have watched the beaming smiles of those in attendance. These two have shared much already and the joy conveyed by all on that summer afternoon is a good indication that more great things are to come.

Captain’s House Wedding

Warmth breathes life into Chester each year - sails unfurl in the harbour, flowers burst into bloom along narrow lanes and a steady stream of residents trickle back into their summer homes. Located by the water is The Captain's House, a three storey home forgotten by time and a three storey home that epitomizes the charm of the surrounding community. The home itself was built by the late Rev. John Seacomb and then sold to Captain James Allen at a later date. It served much of its second life as a restaurant and inn before being converted to a rentable vacation home and wedding venue. As a Halifax wedding photographer the property has quickly become a favourite - the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. With family and friends at their side, Loren and Greg were wed on its back deck by her father. I wholeheartedly believe that I'll be hard pressed to witness another ceremony that shares the same level of emotion. Everything was on proud display - a non-stop celebration of all they hold dear. From private vows before the ceremony to Loren's father presiding over the ceremony itself. And the weather . . . A1. The most perfect sunny summer day that lead to the most perfect sunset. Warm pastel tones over the water - it doesn't get any better than that. The property would serve as both church and reception hall which meant that there was no rush, no need to move from one site to the next - just the requirement to enjoy the company of those in attendance.
