Spring weather is almost here. It's been an ungodly weather, albeit very pretty at times. The change in season leads to an increase in engagement photo sessions ahead of the summer months and I'm looking forward to working with clients who have booked for the 2015 & 2016 wedding seasons. Jill and Paul are one of those couples and I had a lot of fun capturing these images just outside of Truro. What better way to beat the cold than a campfire and warm drinks?

Hubbards Barn Wedding
Halifax wedding photographers have it lucky. Halifax itself is home to a solid set of venues, but one doesn't have to travel far from town to find the same quality, charm and character. Located to the west of Halifax and situated on the shores of St. Margarets Bay is the small community of Hubbards and the home of Hubbards Beach and Hubbards Barn. The barn itself is a simple structure, the site of both a farmers market and community park in the summer months. Exposed beams and solid wood floors make for a cozy atmosphere on even the coldest of days and large sliding doors allow guests to easily transition from the dance floor to starlight. Anne & James chose to wed underneath an arbour on the shores of Hubbards Beach before dancing and singing the night away at the barn. These two are gifted musicians and from strings to stomping feet their craft was front and center throughout the wedding day.

Located to the west of Halifax is Route 333, a winding stretch of road that passes by some of the most iconic scenery in all of Atlantic Canada. It will eventually reach Longards Cove and Shining Waters Marina - a cozy spot with a beautiful deck that overlooks Head Harbour. Natasha & Clayton chose to have hold their wedding ceremony on this very deck and were blessed with warm afternoon light and good company. From a smudging ceremony to an endless stream of hugs and happy tears - this was a rich afternoon and one that I won't forget.
