Hello 2020! It’s been a while, friends. Almost 7 months . . . . .

Have things been busy? Absolutely. Have I had the time to blog? Absolutely. Will I take advantage of the time I have to blog in the coming season and avoid the mistakes of yesteryear? Absolutely. I have to. I owe it to myself, and I owe it to you. There have been a number of incredible projects and celebrations from the past two years that I’d like to share - in the coming weeks those will slowly make their way to my website.

Alongside those galleries will be a couple of opinion pieces - things that I’ve wanted to get off my chest for quite some time (including my decision to shutter most of my social media accounts!) as well as the formal announcement of a contest for the 2022 calendar year. The prize will be free wedding coverage to one lucky couple and it will involve a real world scavenger hunt and none of that ‘share this post ‘x’ amount of times or ‘like this’ or ‘like that’ nonsense. Full details will follow - be prepared to sharpen your problem solving pencils.

St. Mary’s Church - current home of the Indian River Festival. Conceived of and planned by hand and paper. Harvested and constructed by hand and tool. I can’t walk inside these structures without reflecting on their back story - the amount of work tied to each beam, each post, each plank, each moulding and each carving. Fir, pine, spruce, maple and birch are represented, all sourced from the immediate area. Heart and soul poured into every square inch - an inherent warmth as the end result. To build a structure such as this is one thing. To maintain it? Something else. Much like a relationship. Much like these two. Much like the family and friends who support them and came to fill this space with their laughter, joy and a warmth of their own.
