There aren't too many rules to adhere to. You'll need an officiant and you'll need signatures, but outside of that anything goes. Help each other getting ready? Why not. Exchange vows before the ceremony? Why not. Keep things simple and focus on the celebration. Focus on the hugs, the handshakes, the smiles and the tears.

I've only visited Halifax's Waegwoltic Club during the summer months - this was the first time I've been there during the winter. Old buildings decorated for the holidays have an endless amount of character and warmth - those present only added to it.

A Pier 21 Wedding

Halifax Harbour, Eastern Passage, George's Island, McNabs Island. All viewable from the floor to ceiling windows of Pier 21's reception hall. Spend enough time enjoying the views and you'll be treated to the occasional sail slicing a path to the harbour entrance or a colourful mountain of shipping containers precariously stacked on the back of a container ship. The harbour is alive, and this is the perfect perch.

These views would grace both ceremony and reception and I believe that Megan & Tyler couldn't have picked a more fitting way to celebrate in downtown Halifax.

Love Ain't Just A Word

Follow HWY 134 North from Shedic and you'll eventually reach Grande-Digue. Turn right onto the 530 and you'll be led around a lazy loop of the peninsula, finishing off at the Rendez Vous Ice Cream bar. Delicious.

I had the pleasure of visiting Grande-Digue twice this past summer - once for a wedding and once for Amelie & Julien's engagement session. High winds and rain off of the Northumberland Straight paid a visit each time, but so did a generous amount of colourful evening sun. In its presence it becomes immediately apparent why so many homes and cottages have been built on the Western side of the peninsula. I doubt it's for the views of neighbouring Cocagne. Wind and rain be damned. They've been built to soak those colours in.

Having your photo taken isn't easy. It isn't natural. But I always chuckle when I hear;

"We're not very good at having our picture taken . . "

To which I smile, look through the viewfinder and mutter "nonsense" as I see this.
